Custom Powdercoating jobs. "Will work for speed parts"
| Page last modified on March 18, 2003 |
Powdercoating is a process by which an electrostatic charge is applied to a finely ground polyester resin such that it is attracted to a grounded metal part. The part is then baked at high temperature to force the resin molecules to liquify, flow together, form new chemical bonds, then harden. The result is a chemically benign, chip resistant finish. I've been powdercoating for fun and some car parts money. Surface preparation, good grounding, and attention to detail are the keys to this process. You also need to hold temperature steady if you want to have consistant results. That's why I own and use THREE different industrial quality ovens. I specialize on one-off, custom pieces like intakes, valve covers, & stuff like that. I dont have capacity for swaybars or car frames yet though---- You have to keep it to under 24 inches in length. |
