< Previous In 1986 I joined the US Air Force, after receiving my Associates degree in Electronic Engineering Technology. I was assigned to AFTAC and went to tech school in Denver Colorado for the winter, spring, and summer of 1987. After tech school, I was assigned to USAF Detachment 421, in Alice Springs Australia. While there, I bought a dirt bike and a "classic": An Australian-made Ford Fairlane, which I began to immediately customize. I was de-chroming it, re-doing the engine, and custom building an exhaust. I also added a police interceptor suspension from a Ford Falcon that required custom cutting and welding. Things went awry for the project when the local aborigines stole it, twice, in two months. Being a single airman in the middle of the desert town, I soon found the need for a fast street bike and a ripper dirt bike. So, I sold my Kawasaki KLR and bought the IT-250. I traded my vintage Winchester model 94A 30-30 for the RD350. Once painted and tuned,I was ripping up the Tanami Highway to the tune of 13.something seconds on a 350cc motorcycle. There's no speed limit outside of Alice Springs. Thus, an easy cruise at 105 MPH was business as usual. Next >
