What got me into cars, anyway? I was nineteen, and working at the local college as their only computer service technician. I needed a car, and I really wanted a Trans Am. However, all of the ones I found were pretty well wasted. Then, I found this beautiful 1977 Camaro LT in blue. Priced right at $2800 with only 69,000 miles on it, I found my car. I soon started saving money in an old pickle jar for stuff like a shift kit, engine dressup kit, cam, and 4-barrel manifold. Labor Day weekend, 1986 was the day for the change: Blacked out grille, completely detailed engine, it was really sharp (though still a 17-second car in the quarter mile). | |
